When you click the Home button or open a new tab, your Web browser may automatically load a homepage. This could be a blank tab, a certain website or a list of frequently visited pages. At some point, you are likely to want to change the home page because you’ve had enough with the old one or another program changed it without your permission. Here’s how you can customize your own homepage in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Click the Tools menu and then click Internet options. If the menu is hidden, press the Alt key first to make it appear. Under the General tab, overwrite the URL in the Homepage text field with the website URL(s) of your choice. Alternately, click Use current to copy the URL of the website you’re currently viewing, click Use default to restore Internet Explorer’s default page (MSN.com), or click Use new tab to open a tab.
Mozilla Firefox
Open a new tab and load the Web page you want to set as your homepage. Drag and drop that tab onto the Home button. Click Yes when prompted. For further customizations, click Menu (the button that looks like a hamburger) and select Options. Similar to Internet Explorer, the homepage settings are located under the General tab, specifically in the Startup section.
Google Chrome
Click the Menu button and select Settings. In the Appearance section, enable the homepage by marking the Show Home button checkbox. Click the Change link and either choose to open the New Tab page or a specific Web page of your choice.
Apple Safari
Click Safari at the top left corner of your screen and then select Preferences. Under the General tab, overwrite the Homepage text field with the website URL of your choice or click Set to Current Page to automatically copy-paste the active page’s URL.
