If you\u2019ve been wearing a face mask all day, you\u2019ve probably experienced some frustration when trying to unlock your iPhone with Face ID. With iOS 14.5, Apple is finally giving you a new way to unlock your iPhone, as long as you have an Apple Watch.<\/p>\n\n\n

However, Apple will still ask you to enter your passcode or use Face ID when you are trying to purchase something from the Apple App Store or unlocking your iPhone for the first time since it was turned off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To unlock your iPhone with your Apple Watch, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode<\/em>. Then scroll down and tap the slider under Unlock With Apple Watch<\/em>. You will need to be running iOS 14.5 on your iPhone and watchOS 7.4 on your Apple Watch.<\/p>\n\n\n

New Privacy Features in iOS 14.5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With iOS 14.5, you can finally stop apps from collecting data about your browsing history, location, email address, and other identifying information. App developers often use this data or sell it to third-party advertising companies to target you with personalized ads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple\u2019s new App Tracking Transparency feature has been praised<\/a> by privacy groups as \u201ca solid step in the right direction.\u201d However, major tech companies like Facebook<\/a> are trying to convince users to let them track their activities to \u201csupport small businesses and help keep apps free.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Stop Apps From Tracking You in iOS 14.5<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While Apple has been improving the capabilities of its voice assistant for years, this is the first time Siri won’t have a default voice. With iOS 14.5, you can now calibrate your TV with an iPhone. This new feature uses your iPhone\u2019s camera to compare your TV\u2019s output color to industry-standard specifications used by filmmakers.
