Amazon recently announced<\/a> a new feature that lets you send gifts to anyone you know. Now, you don’t even need to enter their address to send someone a gift, and if they don’t like it, they can exchange it for an Amazon gift card of the same value. Here\u2019s everything you need to know about Amazon\u2019s new gift-giving features and how to send gifts to anyone with their phone number or email address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Amazon\u2019s New Gift-Giving Feature?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With Amazon\u2019s new gift-giving feature, you won\u2019t need to ask your friends and family for their addresses when you want to send them a gift. This means you can send gifts to casual acquaintances, distant relatives, co-workers, and anyone else without spoiling the surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to send someone a gift using their phone number or email address, you need to be an Amazon Prime member. However, the recipient only needs a basic Amazon account to accept the gift and get free shipping. If they don\u2019t have an account, they will be prompted to create one for free<\/a> in order to accept the gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Send a Gift on Amazon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to send a gift on Amazon with just a phone number or email address, you will have to use the mobile app. Once you add an item to your cart, check the box next to Add a gift receipt for easy returns<\/em>. Finally, select Let the recipient provide their address<\/em> during checkout.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open the Amazon app<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t already have the mobile app, you can download it from the Apple App Store<\/a> or the Google Play Store<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Then add an item to your cart.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Open your cart and check the box next to Add a gift receipt for easy returns<\/em><\/strong>. All items in your cart will be part of the same gift, so make sure to remove any items you don\u2019t want to include in the gift by taping Save for Later<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Next, tap Proceed to checkout<\/em> and check<\/strong> the box next to Let the recipient provide their address<\/em><\/strong>. If you don\u2019t see the option to let the recipient provide their address, the item might not work with the new feature.

  5. Enter the recipient\u2019s email or phone number<\/strong>. You can also tap the blue silhouette icon on the right side of the text bar to select one of your saved contacts, so you don\u2019t have to manually enter their phone number or email address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6.  Finally, tap Place your order<\/em>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    Amazon claims its gift-giving feature will work with \u201cmillions of products,\u201d but you can only send a gift to someone in the contiguous US, so it won\u2019t work in Alaska or Hawaii. This feature was launched on October 4, but it will take a few weeks to roll out to all Prime members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How to Accept a Gift on Amazon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If someone sends you a gift on Amazon using your phone number or email address, you can accept it by opening your text messages or email inbox and clicking on the link. Then tap Unwrap your gift > Accept<\/em> and provide address<\/em>. Finally, enter your address and tap Accept gift<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Open the text message or email from Amazon<\/strong>. If someone sends you a gift using your phone number, you will receive a text message. If you receive a gift from someone using your email address, check your inbox for an email from Amazon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Then click the link<\/strong>. This will open a web browser or the Amazon app, and you will need to sign in to your Amazon account or create one to accept the gift.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Next, tap Unwrap your gift<\/em>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Then tap Accept and provide address<\/em>. <\/strong>If you choose Exchange for Amazon Gift card<\/em> instead, Amazon won\u2019t tell the sender that you didn\u2019t accept the gift.

    5. Next, choose the address you want your gift to be delivered<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t see your address listed, tap Add a new address<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Then tap Deliver to this address<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Finally, tap Accept gift<\/em><\/strong>. You will then receive an email with the order details, so you can track your package or cancel the order. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n
