This gaming nightmare can be overcome with simple software fixes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c4 wp-block-paragraph\"><a name=\"h.gjdgxs\"><\/a>If you bought a gaming PC, it might come bundled with a game managing software (e.g., MSI&#8217;s Dragon Gaming Center) that can enable\/disable the Windows key for you. Similar tools are also available online. For instance, Microsoft has its <span class=\"c5\"><a class=\"c2\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/?linkid%3D9738719&amp;sa=D&amp;usg=AFQjCNFRHM1OMHTNo0Se93yOoYWUDbAEIA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fix It 50465<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;program for disabling the Windows key (with an accompany <span class=\"c5\"><a class=\"c2\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/?linkid%3D9738718&amp;sa=D&amp;usg=AFQjCNG-XTc6oN4mTMB-IvIYHW8ktVGnYw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fix It 50464<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;program for re-enabling it). Simply download, run, and follow the steps in the setup wizard window. You may need to restart your computer afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c4 wp-block-paragraph\">You can also disable the Windows key through the Windows Registry Editor. Be careful not to do modify the registry unless you know what you&#8217;re doing, because making even a single change there can cause consequences so dire that you&#8217;ll have to reinstall Windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c4 wp-block-paragraph\">To disable the Windows key manually, press <span class=\"c3\">Start<\/span>, type <span class=\"c3\">regedt32<\/span>&nbsp;and press <span class=\"c3\">Enter<\/span>. In the left navigation pane of the Registry Editor, expand <span class=\"c3\">Computer<\/span>&nbsp;and navigate to <span class=\"c3\">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE&gt; System&gt; CurrentControlSet&gt; Control&gt; Keyboard Layout <\/span>folder. Right-click this folder, select <span class=\"c3\">New<\/span>&nbsp;and select <span class=\"c3\">Binary Value<\/span>. Name this entry as <span class=\"c3\">Scancode Map<\/span>. Double-click this entry and type the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c4 wp-block-paragraph\">00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 5C E0 00 00 00 00<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"c4 wp-block-paragraph\">You need to type, because copy-pasting the characters won&#8217;t work. The spaces are simply for clarity; exclude typing them.
