Are you experiencing some difficulties reading texts or emails on your smartphone? Are you always squinting just to make out the words? Luckily, you can make changes to make your phone easier to read. Follow these steps and your eyes will thank you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increase On-Screen Text Size<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Whether you are using an Android, iOS or Windows phone, there’s a feature that enables you to increase its default font size. This will make your phone easier to read without affecting the device\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Android<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Go to the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d menu and tap \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d.
2. Select your preferred text size. If you like, you can also adjust the size of on-screen items with the \u201cDisplay Size<\/strong>\u201d function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip: Different Android operating systems can have slight differences in the steps for selecting font sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iPhone<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Open the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d menu.
2. Tap on \u201cGeneral<\/strong>\u201d and then open \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d.
3. Enable the \u201cLarger Text<\/strong>\u201d function that is found on the \u201cVision<\/strong>\u201d section and adjust the font size to what you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip: While the change may not be seen on all apps on the device, it will be applied to those that you need most, such as Messages, Mail, Calendar, and Contacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use Magnification Functions for Screen Zooming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Known as Magnification Gestures<\/em> on Android and Zoom<\/em> on iOS, the magnification function on smartphones is very useful for comfortable reading. This feature allows you to increase the size of anything, including text, photos, and videos on your device\u2019s screen through finger-spreading gestures or multiple tapping. To enable this function to make your phone easier to read, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Android<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  1. Open the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d menu and then go to \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>
  2. Find the Magnification Gestures<\/strong> option and then turn it on.<\/li>
  3. Try zooming in and out on the screen with triple taps.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Tip: You can keep the view zoomed in temporarily by holding the third tap and then dragging your finger to move the screen and find the text that you want to be enlarged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Launch the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d menu on the home screen.<\/li>
    2. Tap on \u201cGeneral<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>
    3. Choose \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>
    4. Select \u201cZoom\u201d to switch it on.<\/li>
    5. Double-tap with three fingers to enable the zoom<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Making On-Screen Text Bold<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Bold Text<\/em> is a feature that will truly help make your phone easier to read without magnifying the other interface elements on your device. Unfortunately for those using Android phones, this feature is only available on iOS phones. Here are the steps to enable it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Open the \u201cSettings\u201d menu.<\/li>
      2. Tap on \u201cGeneral\u201d.<\/li>
      3. Navigate \u201cAccessibility\u201d.<\/li>
      4. Select the \u201cLarger Text\u201d option and then set it to Larger Accessibility Sizes.<\/li>
      5. Return to the previous screen and then turn on the \u201cBold Text\u201d option.<\/li>
      6. Complete the process by rebooting your device.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Tip: Enabling the bold text function will apply it to all of Apple\u2019s apps that work with the dynamic framework of your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Using High-Contrast Text<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        In some cases, the transparent layers and blur of your smartphone can make reading uncomfortable. Luckily, there are some tweaks that you can do in its accessibility settings to make it easy on your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Android<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        1. Launch the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d menu.<\/li>
        2. Go to \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>
        3. Check the box next to \u201cHigh Contrast Text<\/strong>\u201d to fix the text color on any related app on your device.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Tip: The high contrast function is still an experimental feature on Android, so it may not work properly on all devices. Nevertheless, you can expect Google to come up with improvements and make it foolproof in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          iPhone<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          1. Open the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d app.
          2. Go to the \u201cGeneral<\/strong>\u201d menu.
          3. Click on the \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d option.
          4. Tap on \u201cIncrease Contrast<\/strong>\u201d. You can also reduce transparency to make the text more solid, thus making it easier to read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Applying Inverted Colors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          The bright white screen on your mobile can make it difficult for you to read in a dark environment or in the sunlight. It can also strain your eyes and cause headaches. Turning on the inverted colors feature will make your phone easier to read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Tip: For a shortcut, you can turn on the ability to triple-click the Home button for this feature to work.  In \u201cAccessibility<\/strong>\u201d, enable the \u201cTriple-Click<\/strong>\u201d option that you will find at the bottom of the menu. Now, you can tap your phone\u2019s Home button three times to invert and revert colors instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
