The feature was introduced in Windows 7 as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Windows_Aero#Windows_7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aero Snap<\/a> and as a touch-optimized <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcadvisor.co.uk\/feature\/windows\/windows-8-snap-multi-tasking-3361314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Snap feature in Windows 8<\/a>. It was carried on to Windows 10 with plenty of improvements. You now get Snap Assist, 2&#215;2 Snap, and Vertical Snaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Windows 10 Snap Assist will make you more productive on a desktop even with a single monitor. You can get a full view of multiple applications, although some may be smaller than others until you bring it up to a bigger view. To check, go to Settings &gt; Multitasking &gt; Snap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure the following features are set to ON:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Arrange windows automatically by dragging them to the sides or corners of the screen<\/li><li>When I snap a window, automatically size it to fill available space<\/li><li>When I snap a window, show what I can snap next to it<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><span data-src=\"https:\/\/www.hellotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/4e3b315debb471d62f62322aa521220c.png\" rel=\"lightbox\" data-fancybox><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hellotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/4e3b315debb471d62f62322aa521220c.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 Snap Assist: A Great New Feature You Have to Try\" class=\"wp-image-23388\" width=\"600\" height=\"335\"\/><\/span><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2x2-snap\">2&#215;2 Snap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Windows 10 Snap Assist lets you use the four quadrants of your screen to view four apps at the same time. To do this, simply drag the title bar to either the left or right edge of your screen until you see a transparent overlay appears. Release the mouse and the window will snap into place. Do the rest for the other three apps to arrange them in quadrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><span data-src=\"https:\/\/www.hellotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/32133ccb764cc2f6ab1668af313b57af.png\" rel=\"lightbox\" data-fancybox><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hellotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/32133ccb764cc2f6ab1668af313b57af.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 Snap Assist: A Great New Feature You Have to Try\" class=\"wp-image-23389\" width=\"600\" height=\"321\"\/><\/span><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If your laptop has a touchscreen interface, you can snap apps with a tap and drag of your finger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a keyboard, however, may be the quickest way to go about snapping an app to a specific quadrant. Simply press\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Key + Left arrow key + Up arrow key \u2013 Snaps an app to the upper left side of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Left arrow key + Down arrow key \u2013 Snaps an app to the bottom left side of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Right arrow key + Up arrow key \u2013 Snaps an app to the top right side of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Right arrow key + Down arrow key \u2013 Snaps an app to the bottom right side of the screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure not to interchange the arrow keys as this will have a different effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there are more than four apps open, the remaining windows will automatically snap themselves to an unused quadrant, unless you specify which window you want to view on all four quadrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure that the app you want snapped is the right one, you will need to click on it and snap. The same is true with the other windows, unless you don\u2019t mind them displayed in smaller sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-windows-10-snap-assist-or-horizontal-window-snapping\">Windows 10 Snap Assist or Horizontal Window-Snapping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have more than four apps opened, they will automatically snap themselves in unused quadrants once you\u2019ve snapped one or two apps in specific areas. Simply press\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Key + Left arrow \u2013 Snaps an app to the left half of your screen. The rest of the opened app will automatically arrange itself on the other half.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Right arrow \u2013 Snap an app on the right half and expect the same thing to happen with the rest of the apps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-vertical-window-snapping\">Vertical Window-Snapping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As the name suggests, vertical snap puts two opened apps one on top of the other. You\u2019ll have to use your keyboard for this trick. In some cases, using the keyboard commands above will only maximize or minimize the windows, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-windows-10-snap-assist-virtual-desktop\">Windows 10 Snap Assist &amp; Virtual Desktop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you press Task View, you will find a button (+) for adding a New Desktop, where you can snap more apps that you want to use.
