How to Turn Off Your Roku Device

Turning off a Roku streaming device might seem tricky, especially since these devices are designed to remain switched on all the time. But, if you want to turn off your Roku, you can do so by physically detaching it from its power source. You can also go to the Settings menu to see if there are power options available to you.

How to Turn Off Any Roku Device

The most foolproof way to turn off your Roku is to unplug it from the outlet. If your device is plugged into your TV’s USB port, turning off the TV will also turn off your Roku instantly.

Roku devices are always designed to remain powered on, so the internet connection won’t get disconnected. This way, your device can download updates as soon as they become available. Having constant power also helps in starting your device quickly when you turn the TV on.

How to Turn Off a Roku 4

If you have a Roku 4 device, you can turn it off by unplugging it from its power source. Or you can turn it off by going to Settings > System > Power. Then choose Power Off to turn your device off immediately.

  2. Then go to the Settings menu. You will see this in the left sidebar of your home screen. You can navigate to it by pressing the left directional button on your remote.

  1. Next, go to System. This will be the last option on the Settings menu.
  2.  Then go to Power.
  3.  Finally, select Power Off to turn off your Roku. You can also choose Auto Power Off if you want to set your device to shut down after 30-minutes of inactivity.

How to Turn Off a Roku TV

To turn off your Roku TV, you can press the power button on your remote. Or you can also go to Settings > System > Power and choose to turn your TV off after four hours of inactivity.

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  2. Then go to Settings.
  3. Next, select System.
  4. Then go to Power.
  5. Finally, go to Auto Power Savings and choose Turn off after 4 hours.

From the Auto Power Savings menu, you can also choose Reduce power after 15 minutes. You can select both options at the same time or just choose either one individually.

How to Turn Off Older Roku Devices

To turn off older Roku models, you need to unplug your device from the power outlet to be powered off. If you are concerned about saving power, your device was designed to automatically go into a Power Save mode after 30 minutes of inactivity.
