How High Should a 65-Inch TV Be Mounted?

To get the best viewing experience, you want the middle of your TV to be at eye level, which is usually around 42 inches high. That means a 65-inch TV should typically be mounted about 25 inches from the floor to the bottom of the TV.

Remember, the size of a TV is measured from corner to corner. Usually, a 65-inch TV is around 32 inches tall. However, you should measure the height of your TV with a tape measure to be sure.

In order to find out how high you should mount your TV, you need to take the height of your TV (32 inches) and divide it by 2 (which equals 17 inches). Then subtract that from the height of your eye level when sitting down, which is normally 42 inches. So, that means a 65-inch TV should usually be mounted around 25 inches above the floor (to the bottom of the TV). In this case, the top of your TV would be around 59 inches above the floor.

If you are taller or shorter than average, you can also use a tape measure to find out how high your eye level is when sitting on your couch. Then use that measurement instead of the 42 inches to find out how high you should mount your TV.

If you already have a TV stand or other furniture in the way, you can mount your TV higher. However, mounting your TV too high will mean that you have to tilt your head back. In order to avoid straining your neck, it is recommended that your eye level should not fall below the bottom third of your screen. That means you should never mount a 65-inch TV higher than 32 inches above the floor to the bottom of the TV.

With a full-motion TV mount, you can also tilt your TV down, which can help to alleviate neck strain and reduce glare. If you’re in the market for a new TV mount, take our short quiz to find out which articulating mount is right for you
