After months of negotiations, Warner Media recently announced HBO Max is now available on all Amazon Fire TV devices. This partnership means you’ll be able to access thousands of movies and TV shows that HBO Max has to offer from your Fire TV streaming devices. Here’s everything you need to know about the HBO Max app on Fire TV, including what it is, what you can watch, and how to download the app on your Fire TV devices.

What Is HBO Max?

HBO Max is one of the most popular streaming services today. With HBO Max, you can access all shows and movies that are on HBO, as well as content from TNT, Cartoon Network, Crunchyroll, and other media platforms that WarnerMedia is licensed to stream.

What Can You Watch on HBO Max?

HBO Max gives you access to more than 10,000 hours of content, including original content like Game of Thrones, new movies like Wonder Woman 1984, exclusive content like the upcoming Friends reunion, and much more.

While Friends’ reunion has been delayed due to the pandemic, you can watch all the old episodes of the hit TV show. Plus, you can watch other top-rated shows on HBO Max, such as The Big Bang Theory, Rick and Morty, Doctor Who, and much more.

As for movies, HBO Max has classic blockbusters like Die Hard and The Matrix Trilogy, as well as HBO Max Originals, like Ridley Scott’s Raised by Wolves. There are even movies that you won’t find anywhere else, like the new Wonder Woman 1984, which will debut on HBO Max the same day it hits theaters.

With HBO Max on Fire TV, you can also use Alexa to find shows and movies. HBO Max content will also appear in the universal search queries when using Amazon Fire devices. So, if you say, “Alexa, find comedies,” HBO Max content will appear in your recommendations.

How to Log In to HBO Max on Fire TV Devices

If you currently have HBO as one of your Amazon Prime Video channels, you can log in to HBO Max on your Fire TV using your Amazon login details. You don’t need to pay anything extra to get HBO Max on your Fire TV device.

If you have the HBO app on a Fire tablet, it will become HBO Max when you update the app (or if you have set it to update automatically). You can also log in to HBO Max using your current login details for HBO.

New customers can sign up through the HBO Max website or through the app. And, if you are already an HBO Max subscriber, regardless of how you signed up for the service, you can access all of its content on a Fire device using your existing log in details. As far as compatibility is concerned, HBO Max is compatible with the entire lineup of Fire TV devices, including the Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick Lite.

How Much Is HBO Max?

HBO Max is currently priced at $14.99 a month. There is a 7-day free trial if you just want to try it out. While it is a little more expensive than Netflix or Disney +, HBO Max features some of the most highly-rated shows and movies that you can’t find anywhere else.

If you already have HBO, HBO GO, or HBO Now, you won’t need to pay extra for HBO Max. You can also get HBO Max for free if you are already subscribed to HBO through your cable provider. Check out our guide on how to get HBO Max for free to find out more.

What’s the Difference Between HBO Max vs HBO Now vs HBO GO?

HBO Now features original HBO shows and the channel’s rotating slew of movies. HBO Max has everything that HBO Now offers, plus more. With the launch of HBO Max, HBO GO has been discontinued in the US.

HBO Max combines all HBO streaming services, and it also includes content from Time Warner. You can also download a show to watch it offline, and you can set up multiple profiles for different users. Plus, you can stream with up to three devices simultaneously, and there are parental controls, too, making it perfect for families to share.

If you’re a new customer, the only reason to pick HBO Now is if your streaming device doesn’t support HBO Max yet. However, if you have a streaming device that supports HBO Max, like a Fire TV Stick, then HBO Max is clearly the best choice.

Is HBO Max on Roku?

Unfortunately, HBO Max is not available on Roku devices yet. Now that Fire TV has finally welcomed HBO Max, Roku is the last major streaming device that doesn’t have the popular streaming service.
