How to Recover Deleted Photos From Your Android Smartphone

deleted photos

Oops. You just deleted all the photos in your Android smartphone by accident, and now you’re getting butterflies in your stomach. Precious memories and selfies – they’re all gone. Don’t wallow in despair yet, because you may still be able to recover your deleted photos.

Although the photos appear deleted, the data is still there. Deletion merely tells the smartphone that the storage space where the photos are located can be used for other files. This is why the first thing you need to do is to stop using your smartphone, taking more pictures or downloading anything. This ensures that no new data will be written in the aforementioned storage space. If the photos are stored in a memory card, remove the card immediately from the smartphone.

Recover From A Memory Card

Find and install a recovery application on your computer. If the data loss happened in your memory card, PhotoRec, Recuva and EaseUS Data Recovery are some recommended recovery software.

These applications may have different setup and recovery processes, but they commonly ask you to select the storage or directory that contains the deleted photos. Remember to insert the memory card to your computer’s card reader first. You then need to indicate another directory where successfully recovered photos can be stored.

Recover From Smartphone

If the deleted photos are located in the internal storage of your Android smartphone, the process is similar. Connect the smartphone to your computer via a USB data cable. Enable the phone’s USB debugging mode, which is usually found under the developer options in the system settings. Install and use a recovery application, such as Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android and Kvisoft Data Recovery.

Many of the aforementioned recovery software can help you regain not only your lost photos but other kinds of data as well, such as videos and documents. Hopefully, they will recover everything you accidentally deleted, but it’s not 100-percent guaranteed.
